A patio + fire pit combination typically costs $12,000–$35,000 depending on patio size, fire feature type, and added elements like seating walls or lighting.
Gas fire pits are more convenient — instant on/off, no wood to store, no ash to clean up. They require a gas line connection (typically $500–$1,500 to run from your house) and a permit.
Wood-burning fire pits are less expensive upfront and provide the authentic campfire experience. However, Bend has periodic burn bans during high fire danger periods — check with the Oregon Department of Forestry before lighting a wood fire.
PRO TIP
In Bend's windy climate, a fire pit with a built-in wind screen or a sunken design (below grade) provides much better usability than a standard above-grade fire pit.
