Westside Outdoor Living Space

Project Description

The original space was a steep hill with nothing more than some sage, rabbit brush, and boulder outcroppings. The owners wanted to reinvent the space to provide room to entertain and to further enjoy the view of the Deschutes River. So we started by creating a pondless water feature by grading the hill and installing a 40ft long stream with mossy boulders. We then stripped, pressure-treated, reinforced, and refinished the existing deck with Belgard Rustic Lafitt pavers. We then covered the deck and patio closest to the river with cedar (tongue and groove), and installed recessed lighting and infrared heaters. New powder coated cable wire railing was installed around the deck. A hot tub was then sunk into the new deck. Once the hot tub was in, we laid a new patio around it using Belgard Mega Arbel pavers. We left the edges natural to give it that rustic look. We installed a boulder for a bridge over the stream which transitioned the patio to the new deck. The outdoor fireplace and chimney was next. We built an Isokern natural gas fire chimney and covered it in a Sebastian veneer and 2″ mahogany flagstone. Landscape lighting went in next. We installed 50 FX Luminaire landscape lights for mood enhancement. These lights can change color and brightness via an app on your phone. Finally, new landscaping was planted. We replanted the entire area with over 250 new trees, shrubs, and perennials, as well as re-barked the entire property with dark hemlock. The final product was stunning and we couldn’t have been more pleased.
